Text:
Ronald J. Harshbarger, James J. Reynolds Mathematical Applications for the Management, Life, and Social Sciences. We will cover chapters 1-6.
Prerequisites: Math 1010, Chapter 0 of text. Are you in the right class?
Calculator:
You will need a calculator with at least exponential, logarithm, and yx functions. Graphing and financial calculators are nice, but not necessary. You are responsible for knowing how your calculator works.
Tutoring:
There is free tutoring available in Mines 210:
Monday/Wednesday 9AM - 7PM
Tuesday/Thursday 10AM - 7PM
Friday 9AM - 2PM

Or you can also try the Tutoring Center in the student services building.
Homework:
Homework will not be collected, but it must be completed daily in order to learn the material. Homework is assigned for every section. You should consider this as a suggested minimum number of problems to do, you may need to do more. As the semester goes on, I may make changes in the suggested homework problems to better fit what we are doing.
Typically A students do all of the homework (and understand it!) and then find more problems to do. B students do most of the homework. C students do some of the homework. The rest are usually D and E students. You decide which group you belong to.
Tests and Quizzes:
There will be 2 in class exams, several quizzes, and a comprehensive final. The tests will emphasize the material covered since the last test. We will usually have a quick review near the end of the class the meeting before a test. We will have quizzes on most days that we don't have a test.
50% Test 1 Friday, May 26
Test 2 Friday, June 9
20% Quizzes Most Days
30% Final Wednesday, June 21, 9-11AM
Grades:
Grades are computed according to the following scale. No test scores are dropped, two quiz scores can be dropped.
A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D- E
100-93 92-90 89-87 86-83 82-80 79-77 76-73 72-70 69-67 66-63 62-60 59-0
